Whether you're moving into a new apartment or just feel like a change, here are some tips on how to best set up and decorate your room!
Think ergonomically!
When it comes to your bedroom, your first goal will be to decide how to arrange the furniture around your bed, which—like the sofa in the living room—is the focal point of the room, with everything else arranged around it.
Keep it simple: choose practical items that don’t take up much space. Some double or loft beds double as storage units or have drawers underneath. This is an effective way to store sheets and blankets—or your clothes and comforters in general—so they don’t take up too much space.
As for your clothes, a walk-in closet would obviously be ideal, but even a closet hidden behind two sliding doors will do the trick. Avoid drawers built into furniture, as they take up unnecessary space. In general, items you don’t need every day can be stored in less accessible places.
Ultimately, all of this is to ensure there is enough room to move around the room. Ideally, everyone who sleeps in a bed should be able to move around the room comfortably when they get out of bed in the morning to avoid arguments.
Now that's a brilliant idea!
The importance of lighting should not be overlooked, whether in your living room or your bedroom: it’s always best to have two light sources—one for general lighting and a small bedside lamp. This way, you can adjust the lighting to suit your daily activities, not all of which require full brightness, as we’re sure you’ll agree.
Some people prefer to sleep with a soft light on. Why not try candles, which can create an atmosphere that’s more conducive to sleep—or something else? A reading lamp is typically used so that everyone can end their day however they like.
Finally, from a technical standpoint, it’s best to choose energy-efficient LED bulbs. Combined with a cost-effective energy plan, you can achieve real savings while also reducing your environmental footprint—especially in winter, when the bed is calling your name.

Decorate your room to express your personality
Your relationship with your room will undoubtedly influence your choice of colors for the room and, more generally, its decor. In fact, the more a room is designed to be a pleasant place to spend time, the more likely its occupants will be to decorate it with light colors. The opposite will be true for a room used only for sleeping.
Walls, like bedding, can therefore be coordinated in color, and the overall style can lean toward a Scandinavian aesthetic with an abundance of throws and rugs and a predominance of wood. Alternatively, you can create a cozy nest filled with pillows and linen curtains. The choice is yours, but the bedroom will play a key role in some homes.
Finally, don’t forget that your room’s decor isn’t set in stone: change up the colors and tones depending on the season! As for the decor itself, we’ll leave it up to you to choose between posters of your favorite movies, stacks of books in a reading nook, or simple family photos. Anything that helps you get a good night’s sleep is worth considering!
