At Kipli, the 200x200 is available exclusively on the LUCA bed in okoumé or solid ash, handcrafted in Turin by Luca since 1952.

The 200x200 size presents significant structural challenges; it is the largest size in the Kipli catalog, with a sleeping surface significantly larger than a 140x200.The solid okoumé used in the LUCA is specifically chosen for its strength and lightness: soft and malleable, it is a wood that works well in large dimensions. The traditional assembly method—using wooden dowels instead of screws or plastic parts—reinforces the overall sturdiness by distributing forces across the entire structure. The maximum weight capacity is 300 kg, as verified on the product sheet. It is this combination of lightness and artisanal sturdiness that makes the LUCA well-suited for this size.

The LUCA 200x200 bed is available in two wood species.Okoumé is a soft, malleable, lightweight tropical wood from Central Africa; the frame and slats weigh 35 kg. It is the lightest option for delivery and assembly, a significant advantage for such a large size. Ash is a denser, heavier wood; the frame and slats weigh 45 kg and offer a different, more textured visual appearance. Both woods come from sustainably managed forests, are finished with VOC-free vegetable wax, and are assembled without screws or chemical adhesives. The choice comes down mainly to aesthetics and ease of handling; both meet the same high standards of artisanal craftsmanship.

The LUCA bed is designed using a traditional wooden dowel assembly method —no metal screws, no plastic parts, and no chemical adhesives. This time-honored carpentry technique ensures the structure’s sturdiness without relying on industrial fasteners. Solid okoumé requires little maintenance—one of its key advantages in such a large format. A damp cloth is sufficient for routine cleaning. Marseille soap or black soap may be used if necessary, always applied with a clean cloth and without harsh detergents that could damage the vegetable wax finish. The vegetable wax naturally protects the wood without emitting VOCs; do not use synthetic chemicals that would damage this natural finish. Solid okoumé does not deteriorate over time; it develops a patina. Minimal maintenance is sufficient to ensure it lasts for years without losing its properties.
