Kipli: Fair and consistent prices all year round

Kipli: Fair and consistent prices all year round

We are often asked why we don’t participate in sales or Black Friday. Our answer is simple: tempting discounts encourage overconsumption, which has a disastrous impact on the environment. Our prices are fair and reasonable all year round because we ensure fair compensation for everyone involved in the production chain; furthermore, we keep our margins low to make a product of incredible quality accessible to everyone. We cannot compromise on quality or on fair compensation for those in the supply chain.

What does a fair price mean?

A price is truly fair when the consumer pays a reasonable price relative to the product’s quality. Furthermore, we can say that it is fair when all parties involved in its production are adequately compensated (suppliers of raw materials used in the production process, manufacturing facilities, etc.).

Kipli offers a product of incredible quality at a price that fully reflects our production costs and the high-quality materials we use to ensure your comfort. Our mattress costs about half as much as a mattress of comparable quality sold in stores and about 30% less than what our online competitors charge for identical products.

A fair price is therefore a matter of values. A fair price is necessarily linked to the intrinsic value of the product’s production.

A fair price ensures a low margin for distributors. Its cost includes the cost of raw materials, their processing, and fair compensation for everyone involved in the production chain. To arrive at the retail price, we add the gross margin, which includes fixed costs (compensation for the e-commerce team, office rent, customer service, etc.), all taxes (which we pay in full in Italy), and the profit from the sale, also known as the net margin. For Kipli, the net margin on the sale of a mattress is 7%.

Why do we consider fair and reasonable pricing to be the norm?

In light of the need for more sustainable development, we believe it is essential to act responsibly and commit to changing the world of commerce. As you know, there are still practices in global trade that are widely criticized for their ethical implications, such as working conditions—which are often ignored or sacrificed in the name of profit—or the sometimes indecent wages paid to those involved in the production and/or transportation of these products.

Kipli is among those who believe that companies, regardless of their size or line of business, have a social and environmental responsibility. Ensuring fair prices is one way Kipli takes responsibility for giving as many people as possible access to high-quality, sustainable, and eco-friendly products. Kipli takes the opposite view of the "race to the bottom." Companies constantly lower prices through promotions to attract consumers. The result is a whirlwind of crossed-out prices, illegible rates, and implausible discounts that make it difficult for customers to compare offers.

What does a price really mean?

What does a price really mean? How do other brands manage to sell their products at rock-bottom prices during sales? How credible is a price marked down by 60%? What is their profit margin during normal times?

Compromising product quality to offer sales and discounts, or paying suppliers in an unethical manner, are practices that no longer have a place in today’s world. Kipli offers you the transparency and peace of mind that comes with buying an exceptional product at its fair price.
